Baton Rouge residents may have heard that the trial for a number of murders that happened in Louisiana in 2007 started just a few days ago. Reports indicate that testimony began Monday, Sept. 30, for the case against two people charged with second-degree murder for the slayings of a pair of students from Louisiana State University (LSU). According to reports, the two men who were killed were graduate students who were in the country studying abroad.
A third person who was allegedly connected to the murders is believed to have made a plea deal, while the two others are facing murder charges. The case report states that the two victims were international students who hailed from India, a pair of 31- and 33-year-old males. According to the widow of the 33-year-old man, she found her husband’s body in their apartment. Investigators reported that the pair had been shot in the head while inside the apartment, and they claim that one was also bound with a cable.
During the trial, the defense has been questioning the widow about her husband’s use of painkillers; she claimed that she did not know which types he was using. According to news, the only eyewitness to the shooting testified that he did not want to be in court and that the judge had ordered him to speak. These aspects of the case are absolutely vital for the defense of the men who have been associated with the crime at this time.
