Man accused of murder in Baton Rouge

A murder charge can immediately change your life. Even if you haven't been proven guilty, you may still have to deal with backlash from those who assume you are. Media coverage and bias could cause problems for you, and that isn't fair. It's important to seek legal help if you've been charged with murder, since there are steps you can take to protect yourself and family while the charges are investigated.

Baton Rouge residents may have heard that a 19-year-old man was arrested based on suspicion of murder according to news from Jan. 18. The young man has been accused of shooting his cousin after a dispute on Jan. 13. The man's cousin died at the scene of the shooting, according to the news. Reports claim that the 19-year-old man fled the scene, although they did not report why they thought he had been the murderer.

According to the news, the man has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder, and he faces another charge for the Illegal Use of a Weapon. The teen has been transported to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, and he is being held on a $255,000 bond, according to the news. Reports claim that this murder was the second homicide within Baton Rouge since the start of 2014.

In cases like these, it may seem like the right person has been arrested, but not every murder is clear cut. There are steps you can take to protect yourself if you've been charged with a serious crime like assault, murder, or other homicide crimes; speaking with an attorney may help you understand what you can do to keep your life as normal as possible during this trying time.
