Man allegedly shoots at officers, charged with attempted murder

When an accusation of murder or attempted murder is made against you, you may wonder if you have any real rights. It might seem like everyone is against you, but that isn't the case. A murder charge can impossible to overcome, but with the right defense, you can better protect yourself against the media and unfair biases in Baton Rouge.

You might have heard about a shooting that took place near Tigerland. This shooting has been reported as the third time law enforcement has been shot at while serving drug-related warrants. The May 5 report states that the shootout injured one man but no deputies; however, one witness did report that someone during the altercation, stated that he was going to kill the other party. It wasn't clear who said it.

The report claims that the police arrive and saw a 24-year-old man, who is a person they believed was a drug dealer, leave his apartment. He got into his car, and then the deputies allegedly turned on their emergency lights and announced who they were. The news reports that the man then opened fire on the police from inside his vehicle. There had reportedly been between 10 to 30 shots fired, and at least six bullet holes were visible at the scene.

The 24-year-old man was taken to the hospital following the shootout, although it wasn't reported how he was injured. Police did not report firing shots at the man. The man will now be charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder of a police officer. He will also face some drug-related charges, according to the police spokeswoman, because some heroin was allegedly found in his home.
