Louisiana man facing murder charge

A 34-year-old man was indicted for a murder charge on April 13. A grand jury in Bossier Parish indicted the Shreveport man for the murder of a 33-year-old woman from Haughton. The woman's dead body was discovered in a truck that was parked in a Haughton pasture on March 15.

According to reports, sheriff's deputies found the deceased woman's body inside of a maroon 2014 Ford F-250 truck. Sheriff's deputies had arrived at the pasture near Highway 157 after receiving a call about the vehicle. Although the Bossier Parish Coroner did not immediately report the cause of death, investigators say the woman had been shot one time. The truck was reported to be a stolen vehicle from Mississippi.

The same night that the woman's body was discovered, investigators obtained a warrant to arrest the accused man on a second-degree murder charge. He was taken into custody in West Shreveport the following day and held at the Bossier Maximum Security Facility on $2 million bond. The man allegedly struggled with authorities briefly while he was being detained. Police say the man's criminal record contains several charges for drug possession, resisting an officer and aggravated escape.

A person who is facing a murder charge may want to begin working with a criminal defense attorney immediately. An attorney may be able to help the defendant by fielding all communication with authorities to ensure that no misguided statements can be used against the defendant later on in court. Depending on the circumstances of the incident, an attorney may be able to help a defendant in a murder case to argue for reduced charges or an acquittal.
