2 teens charged for murder of father and son

On April 26, law enforcement officials in Louisiana announced that two teens were being charged for the murder of a father and his son. A 17-year-old boy is accused of shooting the alleged victims at their home, and an 18-year-old woman is accused of driving the getaway car after the incident.

The alleged homicide occurred in the Metairie section of New Orleans on April 22. According to police, the accused boy brought a shotgun with him when he entered an unlocked side door at the victims' residence. He allegedly stole several items from the victims' home and shot the 56-year-old father and his 25-year-old son. While this was going on, the accused woman allegedly circled the block in an SUV that had been reported stolen earlier that day.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff said that a surveillance image was used to get the license plate number on the SUV after the incident. Traffic cameras were then used to track down the SUV's location. When police saw the two accused people get into the SUV, they were chased down and detained. Police say that the woman admitted that she was in the SUV when the 17-year-old boy shot the two men. The 17-year-old boy has been charged as an adult for two counts of first-degree murder while the woman was charged for accessory after the fact.

A person who is facing a murder charge has the right to the assistance of a criminal defense attorney. While helping the accused person to build a strong defense or negotiate a plea deal, an attorney may want to field all communication with law enforcement officials so that the defendant does not say anything incriminating by mistake.
