Louisiana residents killed by violent crime

Recently in New Orleans, Louisiana and the surrounding area, a number of different violent crimes occurred, some of which involved fatalities. One incident involved a victim discovered inside of a car, killed from multiple gunshot wounds. Another incident involved four young men who were shot from an assailant inside a vehicle. One of the victims was hospitalized, but did not survive the shooting.

Multiple Louisiana residents facing fraud charges

According to the Department of Justice, the New Orleans area is a hotbed for multimillion fraud crimes, with nearly a dozen Louisiana residents in the area facing charges. The allegations are in connection with more than $100 million in fraudulent Medicare claims coming from a variety of sources. One such charge involves three individuals who submitted more than $33 million in home health care services claims, most of which investigators believe are fraudulent.

Louisiana ranks highly for DWI enforcement

There is no state in which drunk driving is legal or even looked upon favorably. However, that does not mean that drunk driving is treated equally in every state. Different states have different rules and regulations when it comes to drunk driving, including what the legal BAC limit is, the penalties of a drunk driving conviction and more. According to a recent study, Louisiana is one of the stricter states when it comes to drunk driving.

Do I have to take a sobriety test if I'm pulled over?

America is a free country, and every American citizen has rights that they can exercise if necessary. Many people are familiar with their right to remain silent, for example, if they are charged with a crime. We have all heard in countless movies and shows how anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law, and this is true. However, there are some things you cannot refuse without suffering legal penalties.

Legal defense for DUI accusations

Drunk driving is not a crime that law enforcement officials take lightly, and it is not an accusation that you should take lightly either. Being convicted of a DUI or DWI in Louisiana can cause your license to be suspended or even land you in jail. You may be facing dire circumstances if you are charged with drunk driving, but it is important not to give up hope. The right approach can help you avoid a conviction.

Never underestimate your legal defense options

If you are accused of a crime in the United States, it is important that you remember that you are innocent until proven guilty. No matter how dire the circumstances seem, you have options for your legal defense that could have you acquitted, and even if you are not acquitted, the charges could be reduced. This is why it is extremely important to maintain your silence until you can speak to an attorney.

Take action in your defense when accused of sex crimes

If you are ever accused of a crime of any kind, it is important to take quick and decisive legal action in your own defense. However, it is perhaps even more important to take such action when it comes to sex crimes. This is partially because sex crimes have a serious social stigma attached to them in which many people believe that the accused is guilty even before the case is determined. It is also partially because of the nature of most sex crimes.
