As most Baton Rouge residents know, a person who is convicted of murder can face serious penalties such as a long prison sentence or even the death penalty. People accused of this sort of crime, or even an attempted murder, should secure experienced legal counsel.

A Baton Rouge woman was recently arrested for allegedly trying to arrange the murder of her child’s father. The two were arguing over the child, and after the father returned the child to the mother, the mother called him and said there was something wrong with the child’s eye. The father returned to the suspect’s residence to check on the child when he was allegedly accosted by the suspect’s brother and friend. The brother and friend allegedly pulled out guns and beat the father. The father fled the scene and was allegedly shot at by the suspect’s friend. The mother was charged with Principal to Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Principal to Simple Battery and Principal to First Degree Murder.

Murder, attempted murder and assault charges are serious crimes in Louisiana. Just being accused of such a crime can ruin a person’s personal and professional reputation. A legal professional who is skilled in criminal law can help their client tell their side of the story. An attorney can aggressively defend their client. They can provide their client with the strongest murder defense possible and protect their client’s innocence. They also protect their client’s legal rights against abuse by policy and prosecutors.

A murder conviction in Louisiana can lead to decades in prison or even the death penalty. Those accused of such serious charges should make sure their rights are protected.
