Baton Rouge man charged in teen sex trafficking case

Louisiana takes sex offense charges seriously. Public pressure for effective prosecution and conviction runs high. Therefore, the prosecution thoroughly investigates, prepares and argues these cases. When a sex crime allegation involves a minor, the charge is pursued even more aggressively.

Last Saturday, the police responded to a sexual assault complaint at an East Baton Rouge hotel. According to law enforcement officials, a 29-year-old Baton Rouge man kept a young girl in a hotel from last Thursday through Sunday and encouraged her have sex with unknown men in exchange for money. Police believe the man placed an advertisement online, claiming the minor would be willing to have intimate relations with strangers.

The girl, who happened to be 15, was a runaway. She claimed she had engaged in sexual acts for money with males who responded to the online advertisement under the man's guidance.

While the man was checking out of the hotel at approximately 3:00 a.m., the police arrested him. He was booked into Parish Prison on trafficking of children for sexual purposes.

The police do not know who made the complaint that a sexual assault had taken place at the hotel. The case is currently under investigation.

The mere allegation of a sex crime is enough to wreck havoc with a person's life. An accusation can cause even your closest friends and family members to distance themselves from you. Further, a sex crime allegation can cause serious damage to your career and promotional opportunities. This is one area of the law in which the court of public opinion routinely declares people guilty long before a trial takes place. Therefore, it is critical to hire an experienced criminal defense attorney to combat the charge.
