Baton Rouge residents may be unhappy to hear about a local shooting that led to one death, and also to hear that the man accused in the local homicide has been arrested and placed behind bars, even though the investigation is still ongoing. According to police, the man may be one of two people who tried to rob a vehicle with two people inside.

According to reports from Sept. 10, an 18-year-old man has been arrested for the shooting of a 20-year-old male. The 20-year-old was allegedly shot and killed while he was trying to turn around in a driveway. His car was blocked by another vehicle, and two men approached him and his passenger to rob them, according to reports. It is not clear why the 20-year-old was shot during the alleged robbery, but he died at the scene after receiving multiple gun-shot wounds. The passenger escaped, according to police, but was not named.

The 18-year-old man accused of this crime faces first-degree murder charges; however, the investigation is still ongoing and an accomplice has not yet been discovered, according to the reports.

If you’re charged with murder, an effective and strong defense is important to your case. A murder charge is serious, but that doesn’t mean that your side of the story won’t be heard. By representing your side of the story, an experienced attorney may be able to get your sentence reduced or receive an acquittal. In other cases, getting the crime reduced to manslaughter charges or negligent homicide takes life-in-prison charges and the threat of the death penalty off the table. So, make sure you understand your legal rights to a defense, because it could make the difference between a life behind bars or one spent with your family.
