Man arrested after a 3-year-old child tests positive for an STD

If you're charged for sex offenses in Louisiana, it could hinder your ability to get or keep a job, might hurt your relationships, and could lead to time spent in prison. Of course, being charged with a crime doesn't automatically make you guilty, and it's important that people see you as innocent until it's proven otherwise. You might be interested in this story about a 3-year-old child who tested positive for an STD recently; a 19-year-old male who was allegedly the only male in contact with the child has been arrested on charges of sexual battery.

According to the news from Oct. 26, the man was arrested on Oct. 25 after tests came back that stated that a 3-year-old girl had contracted gonorrhea. According to the mother of the girl, the only male over the age of 10 who had any contact with her daughter was a 19-year-old man who cared for the girl. When requested by the mother, the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office gave the child consent to have a rape examination done; the results showed internal trauma, according to their reports.

The man charged with sexual battery did not admit to any crimes, but he did admit that he had supervised the little girl on two occasions in the last month. He also allegedly claimed that the girl coming into contact with the STD was accidental, but he did not explain in what way or how that occurred.

If you're charged with assault or with a rape, you may be shocked, especially if it's not true or if the situation has been misconstrued. In any case where you find yourself charged with a sex crime, it may be best to look into your options for assistance.
