Being accused of driving drunk might make you a little upset, but usually, it’s best if you cooperate with police. If you refuse a BAC test or breathalyzer test, don’t worry; you have a right to refuse, and it doesn’t mean you’re guilty. If you’re charged with a DUI, you have a right to seek an attorney.
According to news from Dec. 24, a man was accused of being combative with police after being placed in police custody on suspicion of drunk driving. According to the police, the man allegedly spat at the officers during booking and made threatening complaints; both resulted in additional charges. The incident took place around 4:00 a.m. on Dec. 20, according to the news. At that time, a trooper with Louisiana State Police stopped the man after he allegedly was caught driving at high speeds on River Road in Baton Rouge.
The officer claims he was unable to lock onto the speed at which the vehicle was traveling, but he was speeding at 85 mph just to catch up to the man. The man allegedly got out of his vehicle and aggressively approached the officer when stopped. The 25-year-old man who was stopped allegedly refused his field sobriety test and wouldn’t take a breathalyzer test. The officer claims that the man told him that he had six drinks that night. He was placed under arrest shortly after for being verbally abusive, according to the officer’s report. He was charged with a DWI, but police did not report ever getting his blood for a test.
