6 people arrested on drug charges in Baton Rouge

Recently, six people were arrested when they were found in possession of synthetic marijuana in Baton Rouge, according to police. These drug offenses could lead to jail time or other fines or punishments for the people involved. It's important that a strong defense is presented. The advice of a Louisiana attorney could be beneficial to those facing similar charges.

According to the March 21 news, the police had two search warrants for the drug search. After the raid, six people were arrested. Four are facing charges of drug possession with the intent to sell. The two other people were charged with possession, according to reports.

An emergency law was just passed in Louisiana banning eight of the components used in synthetic marijuana. This comes after over 100 people using the drugs ended up in the hospitals around Baton Rouge with serious and life-threatening symptoms.

Police may have had an easier time obtaining search warrants due to the changes in the law, and they headed to the Fun Smoke Shop on Plank Road to investigate. There, they allegedly found 403 packages of what they believe is synthetic marijuana. According to the news, another warrant for Fun Time Novelties Smoke Shop also turned up packages of synthetic marijuana. Police claim they took 3,426 packages of the suspected drugs, and they also seized items they believe are ingredients for making the drugs.

According to reports, the people arrested at both sites ranged from 20 to 46 years old and included two men and four women. The 26-year-old and 22-year-old only face possession charges based on the discovery of alprazolam and oxycodone, according to the news.

All six of these people were booked at the East Baton Rouge Parish, but now an investigation will have to prove that they are guilty for the charges against them. In some cases, if prescriptions can be provided for drugs like alprazolam or oxycodone, or if the alleged synthetic marijuana isn't marijuana at all, the people may have the charges against them dropped.
