Juvenile charged in three murders

Baton Rouge police arrested a 16-year-old boy on Thursday night in connection with the murder of three individuals in the Baton Rouge area. Two of the shootings reportedly took place in July, and another in June.

According to police, the motive for the murder incidents may have been drug related, but that hasn't been confirmed.

The first shooting, which took place on July 29th, resulted in the death of a 25-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man. The two were reportedly found dead in a vehicle on a grassy area of the 9100 block of Kingfisher with the headlights on and the engine still running.

The second shooting, which took place on June 29, ended in the death of a 19-year-old female. Police said she had been sitting in a parked car in front of the Elm Grove Garden apartments when she was shot several times.

Police have booked the young man in Juvenile Detention and he has been charged with two counts of first degree murder in connection to the first incident, and one count of first degree murder and one count of attempted first degree murder in the second incident.

Juveniles facing serious charges like the ones this man faces are in serious danger of burdening their future with a tarnished record. Such charges make it difficult for a young person to find work, attend school, obtain professional licenses, and multiple of aspects of life. While the crimes committed are terrible, the charges can make it even more difficult to rehabilitate a young person and integrate them into society as a productive member.
