In our previous post, we began looking at the recent acquittal of Casey Anthony on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated manslaughter, and aggravated child abuse. As we mentioned, she was sentenced to four years in jail and a $4,000 fine for four counts of providing false information to an officer.

One of those four counts is based on Anthony admission that she falsely provided to investigating officers the name of an individual whom she claimed kidnapped her daughter back in 2008. After the intense scrutiny of the murder trial, Anthony will soon be facing a defamation suit by the individual whose name she stole.

In addition to the civil suit, we may have more to hear about Anthony’s case, as there are speculations that she may soon be signing a book or movie deal recounting her experiences.

Both prosecution and defense in the murder trial have expressed concern that life may be particularly difficult for Anthony after the trial, which attracted national attention. According to sources, once the verdict was delivered on Tuesday, bystanders outside the courthouse became very vocal in suggesting that the verdict was a miscarriage of justice. Many feel that, because of the negative public attention on the trial, the acquittal is similar to that of O.J. Simpson.

Although Casey Anthony was sentenced to four years in jail, she may not be spending more than another week behind bars. Sources said that, because she will receive credit for time served and for good behavior, her sentence may be quite short. On Thursday, Anthony’s attorney said she will be released from jail next Wednesday.
