Federal Crimes Demand A Determined Defense

Last updated on June 21, 2024

Federal crimes, such as federal drug crimes or financial crimes, are under close scrutiny in Louisiana. People facing a grand jury hearing for federal charges require an aggressive defense. The attorney you hire can make a difference in the outcome of your case. Whether your case is in the investigation stages or you have been charged in federal courts, you can trust that Damico & Stockstill, Attorneys at Law, will provide the experienced defense representation you need.

Our firm handles complex federal cases, including federal crimes involving:

Federal Sentencing Guidelines

Penalties for federal crime convictions are generally based on the level of offense and the criminal history of the defendant. However, Supreme Court cases of the 21st century (such as United States v. Booker) have deemed the guidelines violate the defendant’s Sixth Amendment right to a trial by jury. Therefore, federal sentence guidelines are no longer viewed as mandatory. Judges may use the guidelines but are not required to issue a sentence within them.

With 80 combined years of experience in state and federal criminal defense, our attorneys know how to present a case effectively to the judge or jury in order to obtain the most favorable result based on the facts.
