Louisiana natives know that murder or homicide charges can end up costing you time, money, and your reputation. A recent case in the area may have serious consequences for a man who is only 23 years old; he’s been booked on charges of armed robbery and attempted murder.

According to the news from Oct. 10, the man was arrested after an investigation into the attempted murder of a local man took place. The man who allegedly had the attempt on his life was a salesman known for selling incense. This is important because the man accused of the attack allegedly met the man in a parking lot in Baton Rouge to purchase incense on the day of the attack. According to the police, instead of paying for incense that the man brought, the 23-year-old produced a gun and shot the salesman in the left arm and hip. The man claims that he was missing as much as $1,000 after the attack.

The man who was shot claimed that the 23-year-old was his attacker, and he pointed him out from a photo line-up. The 23-year-old has not pleaded either way in the case according to current news reports, but he is being held on a $200,000 bond after being taken into custody on Oct. 10.

These kinds of cases are important to read about, because while it might seem like all the pieces are there, there may be other factors that aren’t being discussed. If you’re involved in an attack or have been assaulted and then are claimed to be the attacker, for instance, you may want to protect yourself with a strong defense and be prepared to defend yourself in court. A murder charge is serious, and these kinds of charges could cause an array of detrimental consequences to crash down on you.
