There are many crimes that could result with you going to jail. In this case, ‘Octomom,’ also known as Nadya Suleman, has been in the news because she’s been suspected of fraud. According to the story, the woman may have received around $10,000 in state medical benefits that she may not have been entitled to.

Baton Rouge readers might know about this woman because of her visibility in the media over the last few years. The 38-year-old mother has 14 children; and she became famous when she gave birth to octuplets in 2009. According to the news, though, the woman has been facing fraud charges in the state of California because she allegedly applied for welfare without reporting money she had earned as a topless dancer and for when she appeared in a movie as an adult film actress.

In court documents, it’s suggested that the woman should pay around $26,000 in restitution. Additionally, since she faces additional fraud charges, she could end up spending over six years in prison. The woman is expected to appear back in court in March.

It’s not often that you hear about celebrities having to go on welfare, but in this case, the mother of 14 claims she has struggled and needed the assistance. If you’ve been charged with fraud, you may want to speak with an attorney, as you could end up in prison or with large fines if you’re convicted of this crime.
