If you’re charged with a drug crime, it’s important that you have someone on your side in court. In this peculiar case, two men were found sleeping a car, and now they face drug offenses, even though they were doing nothing wrong when police investigated their vehicle. The March 13 report claims that the men were sleeping inside a parked vehicle when police were called to the scene.
It’s not clear why anyone called the police on the men who were sleeping in their vehicle outside the Sulphur gas station in Sulphur, Louisiana. It was around 4:00 a.m. when the police were called, according to the news, and they found the men sleeping in the vehicle. At that time, the men were woken up, and the deputies checked their vehicle.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman claimed that a 22-year-old man and a 23-year-old man were inside the vehicle. Now, they have both been charged with two counts of drug possession. They are also charged with the intent to distribute drugs, according to the story.
The woman claims that the police discovered drugs in the vehicle. According to her report, they found a trash bag that was full of marijuana, which is illegal in Louisiana. They also allegedly found 100 ecstasy pills in the vehicle, which would indicate that the men may want to sell the drugs. However, they were not selling any drugs at the time of the arrest.
Additionally, police reported that the men had a large amount of cash in the vehicle, which they assume could be related to the drugs. Following the investigation of the vehicle, both men were arrested. They allegedly are being held pending bond at the time of the March 13 news release.
