If you’re have been charged for crimes like homicide or murder, you have every right to defend yourself. Without a strong defense and an experienced legal representative by your side, a murder charge could force you to spend decades in prison. Your situation may mimic this one, which involves people allegedly in a gang who have now been indicted for drugs, racketeering and murder.
The April 11 report states that over 24 people were arrested in the East Baton Rouge Parish because they had been associated with a Gardere-area gang. That gang has allegedly been connected to drug possession, attempted murder, racketeering and other crimes. On April 9, 28 people were indicted on charges by the grand jury.
Some of the people who were indicted had already been in jail for other crimes or charges, since this was the third major, multi-agency crackdown on the gang in the area. The East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff has reported that he believes the key players have now been arrested. Previously, these members had allegedly been given a way to avoid punishment, and that was through a “call-in” held in April 2013.
At the “call-in,” the authorities offered to help gang members get away from a life of crime. They offered the people who were rounded up for the event help through the programs by BRAVE, give up criminal activity without BRAVE or continue criminal acts and later face the maximum punishments allowed by law. The story states that the gang called The Block Boyz ignored the warnings, and that led to the indictments that just took place. The district attorney has claimed that this group of people is a known criminal group without the organization of a traditional gang.
