A recent incident in Louisiana has some shocked after a young girl claimed she was raped near a bus stop. The police claim that the little girl ran to the nearest house after the incident and started pounding on the door, screaming and claiming that she was raped. The residents who lived inside the house brought the girl in and informed the authorities. They also gave testimony about the incident.
According to the man’s testimony, the girl got off a New Orleans bus and a man approached her, dragged her into his car and raped her. Residents of the area talked about how dark the area is, and the couple who assisted the girl expressed their disbelief about the incident. It is certainly a frightening incident for those who live in the area, and not just for young girls.
The facts of this incident as they currently stand are that a 13-year-old girl accused a mysterious man of raping her. With only this claim and no other concrete evidence, some people are already convinced that there is a rapist running loose in the area, which serves to show just how the system is stacked against those who are accused of sex crimes.
It is entirely possible that this little girl was in fact sexually assaulted, but it is also possible that she was not. This case illustrates the stigma that sex crimes have in our society, with many people forgetting that false rape accusations are a possibility. This is why it is so important for those who are accused of sex crimes to seek legal assistance to help prove their innocence. Rape is an awful crime, and our hearts go out to this little girl if her story is true, but someone is likely to be accused of this crime, and as a society, we must remember that the accused is innocent until proven guilty.
