Man arrested for DWI allegedly tries to bite officer

| May 3, 2017 | Drunk Driving, Firm News |

Baton Rouge residents know how dangerous it is to drive after they have been drinking. A DWI is a serious offense in Louisiana. But, occasionally, a driver makes a mistake or there are mistakes that are made by law enforcement.

A man was recently arrested in Baton Rouge for a DWI. The man was found in the middle of Jennifer Jean Drive where he appeared to be agitated. An officer tried to restrain him, and that’s when he allegedly tried to bite the officer. When the defendant was led to the officer’s car, he bit the officer on the leg and reportedly continued to be belligerent once in the car. The man was charged with a DWI, resisting an officer, battery of a police officer and various other charges.

Being arrested for a DWI can be an embarrassing and traumatic experience for Baton Rouge residents. A DWI arrest can have serious consequences, including thousands of dollars in fines, jail time and a license revocation. Even a first time DWI can disrupt a person’s day-to-day life for many months.

A legal professional skilled in criminal defense can help their client fight these charges. They can investigate the circumstances surrounding the arrest and help determine if there were additional details that could help the defense . They are skilled in analyzing a breath test and whether it was conducted properly. They know the consequences a drunk driving conviction can bring and can aggressively defend their client using proven drunk driving defense strategies and can help reduce the charges of their client, help them with a license reinstatement, and other services.

A DWI can abruptly affect a family for many months or even years. A DWI is aggressively prosecuted by Louisiana authorities and the general public has no tolerance for these crimes. Those who are facing a DWI should consult with an attorney to make sure they are able to tell their side of the story.
